Vacuum reviews built from lived necessity, not marketing copy.

We're Laura and Mohamed — a mother testing filtration after her son's asthma diagnosis, and a London tradesman testing durability across dozens of real properties. Every review starts with a question we actually needed answered ourselves.

Why TheVacuumHub exists

Out of necessity, not opportunity.

When my son was diagnosed with asthma as an infant, following renovation work in our home, keeping fine dust under control became a health priority rather than a chore. Testing vacuums across our own 3,267 square foot home over the years taught me what actually works.

My brother Mohamed, who works as a professional interior painter in London and handles end of tenancy cleanups between jobs, brought a different kind of testing ground entirely: dozens of real flats with real buildup, not a single household. Between the two of us, we cover both sides of the problem — a family home managing allergens daily, and properties that see heavy, repeated wear. We buy and borrow the units we review, and we test every one ourselves before writing a word.

"I am not a cleaning industry professional. I am a mother who had to become one. Every review I write comes from the same question I asked myself the night we left that hospital: will this actually keep my son safe?" — Laura

Who's behind the reviews

Meet the Testers

No editorial team of strangers — just the two people who actually run the vacuums.

Laura Williams

Household & Allergen Focused Reviewer

Mother of three managing a 3,267 sq ft double-storey home. Her youngest son was diagnosed with asthma as an infant following renovation work completed shortly before his birth. She has no formal certification in cleaning or allergy care — her authority comes from years of daily, high-stakes cleaning decisions made to protect her son's health.

Testing lens: fine dust and allergen trapping, full-house multi-floor performance, HEPA seal integrity, everyday durability with three kids, and noise during normal daytime use.

"Will this actually keep my son safe?"

Mohamed

Move-Out Cleanup & Flooring Specialist

A professional interior painter in London who also handles end-of-tenancy and move-out cleanups between jobs. That's put him inside dozens of flats with different flooring and genuinely neglected buildup — the kind of mess a showroom demo never shows.

Testing lens: performance on floors uncleaned for months, exposure across old carpet, hardwood and tile in the same week, fine paint dust and debris, repeat-use durability, and practical portability between properties.

"I am looking at whether it can handle the mess real people actually leave behind."

Our methodology

How We Actually Test

Two testing grounds, one shared standard: nothing gets recommended that we haven't run ourselves.

1

Real conditions, not showrooms

Laura's multi-floor family home and Mohamed's neglected move-out properties stand in for how vacuums actually get used — not a clean demo floor.

2

Filtration under scrutiny

Every review checks HEPA seal integrity and what happens to fine dust when the bin is opened — the gap between marketing claims and reality.

3

We buy or borrow, we don't cherry-pick

No sponsorships before a review is written. Units are bought or borrowed and tested the same way, every time.
