Do Robot Vacuums Actually Help With Allergies?

Robot vacuums get pitched as an allergy solution almost as often as they get pitched as a convenience feature, and the two claims don’t actually rest on the same evidence. Convenience is obviously true. Allergy benefit is real, but narrower and more conditional than the marketing suggests.

What Robot Vacuums Are Genuinely Good At

The single biggest allergy-relevant advantage a robot vacuum has isn’t filtration quality — it’s frequency. A robot that runs a light pass daily is removing surface dust and dander before it has time to settle deep into carpet fiber or get kicked back into the air by foot traffic. Consistency matters more for allergen control than most people expect, and a robot vacuum is the easiest way to get consistency without relying on willpower.

Used together — a robot for daily maintenance, a full-size machine for the deep clean — they solve different halves of the same problem.
